Lezotte Miller wins top local PR award

​Okemos-based Lezotte Miller Public Relations Inc. won “Best of Show” and the top award in the public affairs category at the Central Michigan Public Relations Society of America PACE awards for its campaign on behalf of Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan (ABCMI).

LM Inc.’s “Campaign to end Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) in Michigan,” for ABCMI also won at the PRSA District level among six states. The campaign resulted in the passage of the “Fair and open Competition in Governmental Construction Act,” in July 2011. “Best of Show” is given to the highest scoring entry of those submitted.

“Our challenge was to bring attention to the discriminatory and expensive cost of project labor agreements amid a tough and well-funded opposition,” explains Barbara Lezotte, APR president. “We targeted major state media and coordinated grassroots efforts to get the message out to taxpayers and the Legislature.”

Lezotte Miller Inc. was honored at the PRSA awards Gala April 19 at the Lexington in Lansing.
